This course gives you a practical toolkit for writing and performing sharp, memorable sketches while developing your personal comedic voice with the goal of shaping these pieces into a final live sketch show performance.
You’ll learn the core structure of an effective sketch and explore a wide range of formats - Character, Premise, Fish-Out-of-Water, Blackouts, Impossible Tasks, Mappings, Monologues, Meta, Satire, Parody, and Absurdity - so you can identify what best fits your ideas and voice.
You’ll create grounded, original characters and build sketches using both premise and improv. You’ll also learn how to write for other performers, sharpen your comic timing and energy, and bring sketches to life onstage.
We’ll wrap by assembling your work into a sketch show - from running order to transitions and tech - giving you a full understanding of how to craft a polished, production-ready performance.
